Kathmandu. A large number of police teams have arrived to arrest former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Cadres and leaders had gathered at his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur overnight. Now the police team has reached Gundu with documents. According to UML leader Ram Kumari Jhankri, who is at Oli’s residence, the police have arrived with documents. ‘They have come with documents. Ba (Oli) slept only around 2 am,’ Jhankri told Online News, ‘We have allowed him to rest for some time.’
Similarly, a large number of cadres have also arrived outside the residence. The cabinet meeting held immediately after the formation of the new government had decided to implement the report prepared by the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki. Immediately after that, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung was continuously discussing with the chiefs of security agencies throughout the night. The police had demanded an official written order from the government.
Oli calls two senior lawyers for emergency legal advice
Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called legal professionals for emergency consultation. After the police team reached his house to arrest him, Oli called two senior lawyers. The police had officially requested a written order from the government. At midnight, the secretary of the Ministry of Law was also taken to the headquarters in Naxal. The inquiry commission had studied the suppression of the Genji movement on 23 and 24 Bhadra and submitted a report to the interim government led by Sushila Karki. The decision to make the said report public was made by the outgoing Prime Minister Karki. However, the government has not officially made the report public.
However, parts of the report have been made public in the media. Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued for UML Chairman Oli. The report recommended that the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and the then Police Chief Chandrakuber Khapung be investigated for criminal offenses. The first meeting of the new government held on Friday decided to immediately implement the commission’s recommendation.
Immediately after the decision, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung was in continuous discussions with the heads of the security agencies. After the discussions that lasted until midnight, there was no agreement, Law Secretary Parashwar Dhungana was also called to the police headquarters. He left the headquarters and prepared a written order. After that, the police issued an urgent arrest warrant and are going to take Oli and the writer under control.
Action was recommended according to Section 181 and Section 182 of the Civil Criminal Code. The said section mentions that action will be taken under the crime of negligent and negligent killing. The commission had mentioned both those sections and recommended action.
